A full list of the best poem words favored by each girl in Doki Doki Literature Club.

Doki Doki Good Ending Mod

In Doki Doki Literature Club, word choice matters. If you want to impress one of the lovely ladies of Doki Doki Literature Club, you’ll need to select words that appeal to their personalities. Each character favors certain poem words. This guide will go over the best poem words for each of the girls in Doki Doki Literature Club, with the exception of Monika, who doesn’t have favored poetry terms.

Choosing enough of the right poem words for a girl in DDLC will allow you to unlock that character’s CG cutscene, which you’ll need to do if you wish to get the best ending in Doki Doki Literature Club.

Doki Doki Literature Club - Poem Words Guide

Before we get into which poem words Sayori, Natsuki, and Yuri prefer the most, there are a few things you should keep in mind while writing poetry in Doki Doki Literature Club.

  • Each poem word is worth a certain number of points to each girl (1, 2, or 3 points).
  • If a girl prefers a word, her character sticker in the lower left corner of the journal will jump.
  • At the end of the 20 words, the girl with the most word points will be favored.
  • To favor a girl, her word point total needs to exceed 45 points.
  • Some words will occasionally ‘glitch’. These words don’t appeal to any of the girls.

Below you’ll find a list of poem words that are favored by each girl in Doki Doki Literature. Use the words in each girl’s list when writing poetry to appeal to a specific girl.

Sayori's Preferred Poem Words

Sayori is the childhood friend who favors words that are bittersweet, melancholy, or romantic:

Adventure, Alone, Amazing, Awesome, Bed, Beauty, Bliss, Broken, Calm, Charm, Cheer, Childhood, Clumsy, Color, Comfort, Cry, Dance, Dark, Daydream, Dazzle, Death, Defeat, Depression, Embrace, Empty, Excitement, Extraordinary, Family, Fear, Feather, Fireflies, Fireworks, Flower, Flying, Forgive, Friends, Fun, Grief, Happiness, Heart, Holiday, Hope, Hopeless, Hurt, Joy, Laugh, Lazy, Loud, Love, Lucky, Marriage, Memories, Misery, Misfortune, Music, Nature, Ocean, Passion, Peaceful, Pain, Party, Play, Prayer, Precious, Promise, Rainbow, Raincloud, Romance, Rose, Sadness, Scars, Shame, Silly, Sing, Smile, Sparkle, Special, Sunny, Sunset, Sweet, Tears, Together, Tragedy, Treasure, Unrequited, Vacation, Warm, Wonderful.

Natsuki's Preferred Poem Words

Natsuki is loveable and cute, just like the words she prefers in poetry:

Anger, Anime, Blanket, Boop, Bouncy, Bubbles, Bunny, Candy, Cheeks, Chocolate, Clouds, Cute, Doki-doki, Email, Fantasy, Fluffy, Games, Giggle, Hair, Hop, Headphones, Heartbeat, Jump, Jumpy, Lipstick, Kawaii, Kiss, Kitty, Lollipop, Marshmallow, Melody, Milk, Mouse, Nibble, Nightgown, Papa, Parfait, Peace, Pink, Playground, Poof, Pout, Pure, Puppy, Ribbon, Swimsuit, Shiny, Shopping, Skipping, Socks, Spinning, Sticky, Strawberry, Sugar, Summer, Twirl, Waterfall, Whisper, Whistle, Valentine, Vanilla.

Yuri's Preferred Poem Words

Yuri is the shy, brooding one of the bunch. She favors deeper, more nuanced poetry terms:

Afterimage, Agonizing, Ambient, Analysis, Anxiety, Atone, Aura, Breathe, Cage, Captive, Climax, Contamination, Covet, Crimson, Desire, Destiny, Determination, Disarray, Disaster, Disoriented, Despise, Disown, Dream, Effulgent, Electricity, Entropy, Essence, Eternity, Existence, Explode, Extreme, Fester, Fickle, Flee, Frightening, Graveyard, Heavensent, Horror, Imagination, Incapable, Incongruent, Infallible, Inferno, Infinite, Insight, Intellectual, Journey, Judgment, Lust, Landscape, Massacre, Meager, Melancholy, Philosophy, Pleasure, Portrait, Question, Raindrops, Secretive, Sensation, Starscape, Suicide, Tenacious, Time, Uncontrollable, Uncanny, Unending, Universe, Unrestrained, Unstable, Variance, Vertigo, Vibrant, Vitality, Vivacious, Vivid, Whirlwind, Wrath.

There you have it. The only girl you can’t sway using word choices is Monika, which has to do with the elusive nature of the game itself. Use the poem words in this guide when appealing to Sayori, Natsuki, or Yuri in Doki Doki Literature Club, and you’ll have your favorite girl swooning over your poetry in no time.
