Shogun 2 Rise Of The Samurai Review

Total War: Shogun 2 - Rise of the Samurai basically gives you another campaign similar to the original for the game. It's set centuries before the Shogun 2 campaign and as the name suggests it is focused on the Samurais' rise to power. While the cities and resources are in the same places this is where the similarities stop. This addon to Total War: Shogun 2 is only moderatly successful. I had trouble getting into the game, whereas the original immediately captured me. For some reason, the dual clan leaders is distracting. I have played the original several times but could barely get through 'Rise of the Samurai' once. Total War: Shogun 2's new standalone expansion, The Fall of the Samurai, attempts to give us a glimpse of how Japan's transformation actually took place – and a chance to rewrite history while.

Shogun II. It's generally best to buy the base game first.
Balancing is a far more intricate thing than looking at who wins a 1v1 fight.

    My Build:
    CPU- i7-4790k Devils Canyon @4.6Ghz
    Cooler: Corsair H110i GT
    RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro
    PSU- Corsair 1200i 1200W
    GPU-R9 290X Sapphire Tri-X
Boot Drive: Intel 530 series 240GB SSD
Game Drive: Intel 730 series 480GB SSD
Storage Drive: WD Black 2TB HDD

Go with the base game first. They took some glaring shortcuts when making FoTS that dampen its enjoability quite a bit when you've gone past the initial 'cool, cannons and guns' phase.

Depends on the era you want to play. I liked FotS better. They both go for a pretty cheap price now, especially during sales. I'd wait for that and get both.

FotS wasn't that good, largely because of the lack of AI alterations and the poor unit balance.
Shogun 2's the better of the two, but not by that much.
FotS is nigh-unplayable with the AI, in that it uses the same AI as Shogun 2, with units blindly charging in and failing to hold a line.
It's nigh-unplayable in multiplayer because cannons. If the Western front had access to those guns in WW1, it'd have been over in a matter of hours. Once you click the 'focus fire' button, you've got modern day artillery in your hands.

I've never played Shogun II but based on the time period there both in i prefer FOTS.
The most edgiest things i can think of:
    'I enjoy being insane'
    'God is a hypocrite'
    'Killing is my pleasure'
Don't be one of those people.

Outside of OP artillery FotS is my favorite as it seems to flow better and navy is far more fun so playing with a samurai focused faction in FotS is best. Overall variety between factions and replayability Shogun 2.
YouTube, it takes over your mind and guides you to strange places like tutorials on how to talk to a giraffe.

Easily FotS, mainly I prefer the time period, but also because the variety of weapons and tactics that post-industrialist Japan has to offer .
Let me suggest you to try out Darthmod Fots which adds a **** load of new units and rebalances a lot of stuff.
I really liked Shogun 2 less than FotS ( but still really like it , especially compared to the new Total War titles )
I can't ever properly use cavalry in Shogun 2 ( due to the fact that your most used basic unit ; Yari Ashigaru , completely OBLITERATES cavalry. And that , for me is quite annoying , 3/4 of cav units are almost unusable , those that are are the ranged ones IMO.
Also it seems ( considering the racial bonuses ) that playing another clan than Chosokabe or Shimazu is really hard.
